I’ve been at my current job for a little over two years. Last week I got my name on my door so I guess that makes me official. Our graphic designer and summer volunteer decided to liven mine up with one of my many nicknames.
When a former coworker announced that she was expecting a child I jokingly started a campaign to get her and her husband to name him Channing. Part of my plan included sending her the meaning of my name.
Channing ch(a)-nni-ng as a boy’s name is pronounced CHAN-een. It is of English and Old French origin, and the meaning of Channing is “young wolf; official of the church”. Occupational name. Related to Cannon, and possibly “canal” (Old French). – from www.thinkbabynames.com
I guess it’s obvious which one of the definitions stuck.
Beware the young wolf.
